Chore Check — Privacy Policy

Chore Check is a parental-control app. A parent sets up chores and takes example ("answer-key") photos; the child then takes a photo or short video to prove a chore is done, and the app decides whether it matches. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes. It is written to be read by parents.

Information the app handles

• Chore photos and videos. The example photos a parent takes and the photos/videos a child takes to prove a chore is done.
• Which apps are opened on the device. The app checks which app is in the foreground so it knows when to start a chore check (for example, when a calling or messaging app opens). This information is used only on the device and is not sent anywhere.
• A parent PIN. Stored only as a scrambled (hashed) value on the device — never as readable text and never sent anywhere.
• App settings and counters. Which chores are on, timer lengths, and how many times the "emergency" option was used. Stored only on the device.

How chore photos are checked

To judge whether a chore is done, the app sends the parent's example image(s) and the child's image(s) to our own server, which passes them to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis. The server receives back a short result (pass or fail, a score, and a friendly message) and returns that to the app.

• Our server does not save these images — it processes each request in memory and discards the images once the result is returned.
• The images are analysed by Google's Gemini service and are therefore also subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control how Google processes data sent to its AI services.
• If the server cannot be reached, the app falls back to comparing the two images directly on the device, and no image leaves the device in that case.

Where information is stored

The example photos, the most recent attempt, the hashed PIN, a short local log of results, and all settings are stored in the app's private storage on the device itself. They are not backed up to us. Uninstalling the app removes them from the device.

Advertising (free plan only)

Families who are not subscribed to Chore Check Plus see a full-screen ad after a chore is completed. These ads are served by Google's AdMob, and the app requests only non-personalized, child-appropriate ads (no behavioral targeting) for every user, in line with Google Play's Families policy. AdMob may use an on-device advertising identifier to serve and measure these ads; see Google's ads policy for how that identifier is handled. Chore Check Plus subscribers never see ads and never trigger an ad request.

What we do not do

• We do not use analytics.
• We do not sell or rent anyone's information.
• The app does not require an account, name, email, or location.
• Even when the app blocks internet access, it never blocks or interferes with placing a phone call, so a child can always call for help in an emergency.

Requesting data deletion

Chore Check does not keep any of your data on our servers — the example photos, the parent PIN, and all settings live only in the app's private storage on your own device. Uninstalling the app removes all of it immediately. If you'd like help with that, or have any other question about your data, email worldofgal@gmail.com and we'll respond promptly.

Children's privacy

Chore Check is meant to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian for use by their own child. Setup actions — taking the example photos, setting the PIN, choosing chores — are protected behind the parent PIN. The app does not knowingly collect personal details such as a child's name, email, or location, and it does not use a child's images for any purpose other than judging the chore in the moment. A parent or guardian can remove all of the app's data at any time by uninstalling the app, and can contact us at worldofgal@gmail.com with any request or question.

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this same address.
